The ENABLE1 Dictionary Standard

WordCramble relies on the official ENABLE1 (Enhanced North American Benchmark Lexicon), containing over 178,000 verified English words. This is the gold standard dictionary used by leading word games and word puzzle competitions across North America and internationally.

Word Acceptance Criteria

Minimum Length: Words must be at least 3 letters long. Words shorter than 3 letters (e.g. AT, GO, ME) are excluded.
Maximum Length: Round tile sets feature 6 master letters, allowing sub-words of 3, 4, 5, and 6 letters.
No Proper Nouns: Capitalized names of people, places, or brands are not accepted (e.g., LONDON, JOHN).
No Punctuation: Hyphenated words, contractions, or words requiring apostrophes are excluded.
Letter Count Enforcement: A word can only be submitted if its exact character frequencies do not exceed the count of that letter in the scrambled tile set.

Vowels + Consonant Ratios: Most 6-letter master words contain 2 to 3 vowels. Isolate vowels early to test possible root words.
